Discover the true history of Carnival with its masks and noble garments, immersing yourself in the charm of this mysterious world.

You will begin your experience strolling through a campo (square) and a calle (alley), until you reach a historic atelier where Venetian mask-makers create the most vibrant masks. And then… it’s your turn! Using India ink, gold leaf, a goose quill, and macramé, you’ll have the opportunity to craft your own mask, under the supervision of the artist who will guide you through every single step.

An evocative walk to discover the oldest and still active trades in Venice. Between a ‘calle’ (alley) and a ‘calletta’, walking through the city’s most traditional sestieri and visiting the workshops of Venetian craftsmen. Starting from the ‘squerariol’, gondola maker, to the ‘remer’ oars and ropes maker, to the ‘mascarer’ creator of Carnival masks. Last but not least, a visit to the oldest weaving mill and the atelier of the last local woodcarver.

During the workshop, you will be introduced to the world of leather goods and handicrafts, learn about the different types of materials and how to work with them. During the workshop, you will be able to decide between different wallet models to make, with the possibility of choosing the leathers, trimmings and accessories needed to create your own.

You will draw on the leather and finally after cutting, you will assemble everything to make your wallet model. A personalised memento of your experience in Florence.
